Soy Pickled Pepper Bò Lúc Lắc (Shaking Beef)

Ingredients

  • Beef & Marinade:

    • 1/2 lb ribeye, sirloin, or tenderloin, cut into 1-inch cubes

    • 1/2 tbsp soy sauce

    • 1/2 tbsp oyster sauce (or vegan stir-fry sauce)

    • 1/2 tsp fish sauce (or light soy sauce)

    • 1/4 tsp sugar

    • 1–2 cloves garlic, minced

    • 1/2 tbsp neutral cooking oil

  • Stir-Fry & Assembly:

    • 1/4 red onion, cut into wide wedges

    • 1/2 tbsp neutral cooking oil (for sear)

    • 1/2 tbsp butter (or plant-based butter)

    • Lucky Foods Soy Pickled Pepper Medley (to taste)

  • Sides:

    • 1 cup cooked white jasmine rice

    • Mixed spring greens or lettuce

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Beef: Toss the beef cubes with soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, sugar, minced garlic, and 1/2 tbsp oil. Let sit at room temperature for 15–20 minutes.

  2. Prep the Plate: Arrange the cooked white rice and spring greens on your serving plate.

  3. Sear the Beef: Heat a small heavy skillet or wok over high heat until smoking hot. Add 1/2 tbsp oil, then place the beef cubes in a single layer. Let sear undisturbed for 1 minute to form a crust.

  4. Shake and Toss: Toss/shake the pan to sear the other sides (about 1 minute). Add the red onion wedges and butter, shaking constantly for 1 minute until the butter melts, the onions soften slightly, and the beef is medium-rare to medium.

  5. Plate & Top: Transfer the cooked beef and onions to the plate next to the rice and greens. Top generously with Lucky Foods Soy Pickled Pepper Medley and serve immediately.
