1st Shift Production Manager

About the Position

The Production Manager for Lucky Food, LLC reports directly to the Plant Manager. The Production Manager works closely with the Plant Manager, Food Safety Manager, Management Team and team members to create a fun, safe, and highly efficient production environment. The Production Manager will ensure that all product safety requirements are being met, that employees are following CGMP’s, SQF Processes, GFCO and Kosher Requirements, and that, in keeping with Lucky Food, LLC., employee policies and procedures are being adhered to. All activities of the Production Manager are dedicated to ensuring the safety and quality of the food manufacturing process as well as the efficient use of equipment. These activities include assigning tasks to team members, observing all processes and taking corrective actions when needed.

Qualifications + Skills

·       2-3 years experience in a Leadership/Manager role

·       Experience in the food industry

·       Working knowledge of optimization techniques and process flow improvements

·       Lean process management and continuous improvement

·       Experience managing a nimble, fast-growing team

·       Computer skills, particularly Excel

·       Excellent written and oral communication skills

·       Ability to present weekly to the local and executive management team

·       Energetic and excited about Imperfect Foods

·       Highly organized and strong attention to detail

·       Ability to multi-task·       Excels at independent, unsupervised work

Full Time, On-Site
Monday – Friday 7:00AM to 3:30PM


·       Ensure adequate staffing by scheduling, training, and mentoring the local team to ensure they are meeting performance metrics and operating efficiently

·       Take control of all aspects of the production: setting up the line, packing, and cleaning up at the end of each shift

·       Manage the inventory spreadsheet for warehouse supplies to ensure that the team has enough supplies to operate seamlessly on a day to day basis. Order necessary supplies on a weekly basis, including packaging materials

·       Coordinate with the Customer Care team to notify customers of potential shorts or substitutions and maintain a constant loop for customer feedback

·       Coordinate with the marketing team to ensure we have appropriate collateral for boxes

·       Own all major decisions around the pack line flow and all supporting ops functions as well as bottom lining food safety and warehouse safety

·       Oversee and own the process of shutting down the line and cleaning up the warehouse. Use the checklist of warehouse closing responsibilities and manage the warehouse employees during closing and daily cleaning process

·       Keep a constant eye out for opportunities to improve the operational flow, key metrics, employee happiness, food safety and warehouse safety at Imperfect and relay those to the Ops Leadership Team·       Own key KPI’s around order accuracy, quality issues, underweight items, and maintain a consistent “perfect order rate” of 95%

Personnel Management

·       Decide whether overtime is needed for individual employees and ensure we have enough people to close the pack-line

·       Develop and mentor your direct reports

·       Hold weekly 1:1 sessions with direct reports as well as weekly team meetings

·       Make the call on any employee requests to leave early on production days

·       Support the hiring and promotion process for production employees, including helping to give input to evaluate employee performance on the production line

·       Oversight of daily activities and shift planning

·       Manage Safety and Quality

·       Problem solving and decision-making on (non-)routine tasks and situations

·       Work with Plant Manager to deliver optimum OEE and high standards of equipment care and maintenance

·       Lead production planning meetings, set priorities, facilitate resources needed to deliver plan

·       Ensure proper training and instruction to all employees in the Production department, following the Introduction training (incl. Safety and Quality) for new employees (Do you guys have something like this?)

·       Stimulate, motivate and coach employees regarding their performance; conduct regular 1:1 conversations with employees, eventually leading to 1 or 2 formal performance appraisals per employee

·       Admin and formal tasks regarding employees: personnel planning, absence planning, absence follow-up

·       Ensure clear and open communication within the Production department

·       Reporting of performance vs KPI’s

·       Oversight of MRP and inventory process accuracy

·       Identify and prioritize improvement projects, drive best practice and maintain high standards of 5S·       Assist and support Management Team in delivery of Site goals
